Smugglers' Notch is on "the other side" of Mount Mansfield. From May till Mid-October you can reach the resort from the south via Route 108 from Stowe. This route is closed in the winter due to impassible snow... Remember, this is Vermont's highest mountain! Smuggs as it is called, is "great skiing" and there is some great lodging in the area... including the on-mountain resort community offering all of the perks you'll find in any first-class resort. Off-mountain lodging tends to be more traditional mountain lodges, inns and motels... as opposed to the numerous luxury resorts at nearby Stowe, approximately 22 miles to the south during the winter months.
