You will start this trip from at Exit 11 of I-91 [White River Junction/Woodstock] and head West on Route 4 toward Quechee Gorge and Woodstock. Quechee Gorge, is commonly referred to as Vermont's Grand Canyon. You can park and view it from the bridge spanning the gorge... or, you can take a foot trail down to the base of the gorge. Just remember that you need to make it back up. This large tri-span, spandrel-braced, deck arched bridge is 285' tong, 41' wide, and sits 163' above the dramatic setting of the Ottauquechee River.

When leaving the Gorge, continue to head West on Route 4. A very short distance down the road you'll see a sign pointing to Quechee - the Village. You will make a right turn on Watermanhill Road, and within a minute or two cross a small covered bridge into Quechee - a great place for lunch or dinner and to browse through Simon Pearce.

Now, back to Route 4 heading West toward Woodstock, often
called "the prettiest small town in America." This is a place of unique shops and galleries, artisan studios, country stores and fine restaurants.

Back on the road still heading West. The Bridgewater Mill in Bridgewater is another stop you may wish to consider.  This converted mill is now home to a number of shops.  Continue West until the intersection of Route 100A on your left.  Turn on to 100A [a beautiful road] and you'll soon come to the entrance of The Calvin Coolidge Homestead [A State Historic Site] in Plymouth Notch.  This is an entire little village and definitely worth a visit whether you are a history buff or not!

When leaving, continue heading South on Route 100A till it intersects with Route 100. Turn left on Route 100 [South] toward Ludlow, Vermont. This is an absolutely beautiful drive along the western banks of five lakes.

When you reach the Intersection of Routes 100 &103 turn left through Ludlow, continuing on Route 103.

At the Intersection of Routes 103 &131 turn left on to Route 131.  Another beautiful drive.!  This time along the bank of the Black River and on to I-91.
